Bundle Dye Bandanas with Plants | Sunday, April 7th 1pm-3pm

$72.00

Instructor Leah Rich designs and creates art of all kinds with a focus on clothing pieces made from second-hand sourced textiles. Adding complexity and color using plant dyes, printmaking, sewing, and painting, her offerings are meant to transcend gender and style norms and are one of a kind.

During this workshop, she will discuss fibers, how plant pigments work within the fibers, and then look at dye samples and plants. She brings about 10 plants along with modifiers, so students have endless possibilities to work with for color. Students don’t need any supplies or previous experience. Each student gets a bandana (made with upcycled cotton, sewn by Leah) that has been prepared to be ready for dye. Students design their bandanas and then we steam them to set the pigments. The steaming process takes 1/2 an hour during which we usually browse fabrics, books, clean up, chat, and Q&A.

Students go home with a beautifully dyed bandana, take home 'care instructions', and basic knowledge of dyeing with plants.
